Cultural Context:
Lalah was a Newtype girl in the first Mobile Suit Gundam. She shielded Char in battle and died from Amuro's attack. The line reveals that Char, who lost his mother as a child, saw in Lalah not just a lover but a mother. It is also known as Char's last line in the film. Online, Char is sometimes jokingly called the origin of バブみ, slang for seeking motherly warmth in a younger woman.
