Scene in the Original Work:
In the Doraemon story "Goodbye, Doraemon" (さようなら、ドラえもん), Nobita says this to Doraemon on the night before Doraemon has to go back to the future. 日本語で読む
『ドラえもん』の「さようなら、ドラえもん」で、ドラえもんが未来へ帰る前の夜、ジャイアンとのけんかに勝ったのび太が、駆けつけたドラえもんにこう言う。ドラえもんを心配させないよう、のび太は道具に頼らずひとりでジャイアンに立ち向かい、何度倒されても立ち上がって、ついにジャイアンを降参させる。
Cultural Context:
The story was drawn as the last chapter at the time, and the series later continued with 「帰ってきたドラえもん」. Nobita's wish to send his best friend off without worry makes it one of the series' most moving scenes. The line may also be quoted when someone shows that they can manage on their own.

この話は当時の最終回として描かれ、その後「帰ってきたドラえもん」で連載が続いた。親友を安心させて送り出したいというのび太の決意が表れた、シリーズでも特に心に残る場面の一つ。自分の力でやりとげたことを伝えるときに、引用されることもある。
Grammar & Learning Points
Grammar Point
•「見たろ」= casual short form of 見ただろう, "you saw, right?". •「かったんだよ」= 勝った + んだよ, explaining with feeling. •「ぼくひとりで」= by myself, added after the verb. •「帰れる」= can go home (potential form). •「だろ」= seeking agreement.
日本語で読む
•「見たろ」は「見ただろう」のくだけた短い形。•「かったんだよ」は「勝った」に「んだよ」をつけて、気持ちをこめて説明している。•「ぼくひとりで」は動詞の後ろに回した倒置。•「帰れる」は可能の形。•「だろ」は相手に同意を求める言い方。
Trap for English Speakers
だろ / だろう with a rising tone asks for agreement ("right?"), not a guess. 見たろ is very casual; with a superior, say ご覧になりましたか.
日本語で読む
「だろ」「だろう」は語尾を上げると、推量ではなく「〜よね?」と同意を求める意味になる。「見たろ」はとてもくだけた言い方なので、目上の人には「ご覧になりましたか」と言う。
