原作での使用シーン・文化的な背景

使用シーン:

『ドラゴンクエストVII』で、主人公とキーファ王子、網元の娘マリベルの3人が、遺跡の台座に石版をはめて見知らぬ土地へ飛ばされた直後、マリベルが「家に帰る」と言い出し、2人にこう言い残して一人で去っていく。ゲーム最序盤の一時的な離脱である。
In Dragon Quest VII (2000), the hero, his friend Prince Kiefer and Maribel, the spoiled daughter of their village's fishing boss, set a stone tablet into a pedestal deep in a ruined shrine and are suddenly sent to an unfamiliar land. Right after arriving, Maribel announces she is going home, says this to the two boys and walks off alone, leaving the party for a while very early in the game.

文化的な背景:

お礼を言った直後に「つまらなかったわ」と切り捨てる落差にマリベルの毒舌ぶりが詰まっており、DQ7屈指の名台詞として挙げられる。2026年のリメイク『ドラゴンクエストVII Reimagined』では悠木碧さんの声がつき、「これぞマリベル」と話題になった。退屈な集まりを抜けるときに、冗談で言うこともある。
The sweet "thank you" followed at once by "It was boring" sums up Maribel's sharp tongue in one line, and it is often named as one of DQ7's best lines. In the 2026 remake Dragon Quest VII Reimagined it is voiced by Aoi Yuki, and fans welcomed it as "Maribel through and through." It may also be quoted, half-jokingly, when leaving something dull.

英訳文法・学習のポイント

英訳文法のポイント

•「〜てくれてありがと」は相手がしてくれたことへの感謝。「ありがと」は「ありがとう」のくだけた形。•「〜わ」は女性的とされる柔らかい文末。•「じゃあね」は親しい相手への別れのあいさつ。
•「〜てくれて ありがと」= "thanks for doing ~ (for me)"; ありがと is a casual, clipped ありがとう. •「〜わ」= a soft sentence ending, traditionally seen as feminine. •「じゃあね」= a casual "bye".

英訳の注意ポイント

「つまらないものですが」は贈り物を渡すときの謙遜の決まり文句だが、ここでの「つまらなかった」は単に「退屈だった」という意味で、相手に言うと失礼になる。
つまらないものですが is a polite set phrase used when giving a gift, but つまらなかった here simply means "it was boring". Saying it to someone is rude.
