In the Hidden Inventory / Premature Death arc of Jujutsu Kaisen, the teenage Satoru Gojo is beaten by Toji Fushiguro and left for dead, and the mission to protect Riko Amanai ends in failure. On the brink of death, Gojo masters Reverse Cursed Technique and awakens. He finds Toji again, murmurs this line to himself, and unleashes his new technique, Hollow Purple, to defeat him.
The phrase comes from Buddhism: legend says the Buddha took seven steps right after his birth and declared it. It is often explained as a teaching about the worth of every life, but it is commonly taken to mean "I alone am supreme." In the anime it is the climax of Season 2, Episode 28, and it marks the moment Gojo became "the strongest." It ranked high in a fan poll of Gojo's lines. It may also be said, half-jokingly, when someone feels unbeatable.

•「天上天下」= in heaven above and on earth below, i.e. the whole world. •「唯我」= "only I". •「独尊」= "alone honored". A Buddhist phrase made of two four-character parts.
天下 is normally read てんか (as in 天下統一, unifying the country), but in this phrase it takes the Buddhist-style reading てんげ.
