In Princess Mononoke, Ashitaka, who has reached Irontown, gives this answer to Lady Eboshi. He shows her the iron ball that came out of the demon boar that cursed him, and she asks what he will do once he learns its secret. He says he will take no side and judge with his own eyes. Eboshi laughs out loud and takes him to show him her secret.

The line sums up Ashitaka's role in the 1997 film: he stands between the people of Irontown and the gods of the forest and refuses to take sides blindly. 眼 is read まなこ here, an old, literary word for eyes. It may also be quoted, a little formally, when someone wants to judge a matter fairly.
