Original Scene & Cultural Context

Scene in the Original Work:

In the underground labor facility of Kaiji (the second series, Kaiji: Against All Rules), Foreman Otsuki says this after seeing Kaiji give in to temptation and waste his wages. The debtors there dig tunnels for a tiny wage paid in perica, the facility's own currency, and Otsuki leads Kaiji's work group, Group E.

Cultural Context:

Otsuki is a cunning foreman who profits from the workers' weaknesses, so the advice comes from an unlikely mouth. Even so, the line is sometimes quoted as a wake-up call for people who keep putting things off. It may also be said, half-jokingly, to a friend who says they will start a diet tomorrow.

〜んじゃない here is a negative ("it's not that you ~"). But with a rising tone, 〜んじゃない? means "isn't it ~?" (いいんじゃない? = I think it's fine). Intonation changes the meaning.
