Scene in the Original Work:
In the sequel, Tobaku Hakairoku Kaiji, Kaiji is sent to an underground labor camp to pay off his debt. He plans to save all of his first pay, in the camp money called perica, to buy a one-day pass to the surface. But the squad leader Otsuki hands him a can of beer. Kaiji gives in, takes his first cold beer in a month, and says this, deeply moved. Soon he gives in to grilled chicken too and spends all his pay.

続編『賭博破戒録カイジ』。借金を返すため地下の強制労働施設に送られたカイジは、初めての給料（ペリカ）を、地上に出られる「1日外出券」のために貯めると決めていた。しかし班長の大槻に缶ビールを差し入れられ、誘惑に負けて口にする。1か月ぶりの冷えたビールに感動し、このセリフをもらす。このあと焼き鳥などにも手を出し、給料を使い切ってしまう。
Cultural Context:
Together with the next words, 犯罪的だ… ("It's criminal..."), praising the taste, this is one of the best-known scenes in the Kaiji series. The beer was really a trap by Otsuki and his men, who sell snacks and drinks to the workers to take their perica. In 2024, a beer gadget named after the line, 「キンキンに冷えたビール製造機」, was even sold. It may also be used, half-jokingly, with the first beer after work.

Trap for English Speakers
〜やがる is normally used to curse someone's action, as in 何しやがる！ ("What the hell are you doing?!"). Using it about beer is a manga-style exaggeration. In daily life, say キンキンに冷えてる.
