In the Mugen Train arc, the Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku wakes from the sleep cast by the demon Enmu. The demon has merged with the whole train and is attacking the passengers. Rengoku says, "I dozed off and this happened!!" and then this line. Right after, he gives Tanjiro's group their posts to protect the passengers.
("As a Hashira, I'm a disgrace!! I want to crawl into a hole!!"). Rengoku's loud, old-fashioned way of talking and his honest self-scolding made it a fan favorite. It may also be used as a joke when you oversleep or make a silly mistake.
•「よもや」= surely not; I never would have thought (an old-fashioned word). • Repeating it, よもやよもや, makes the surprise stronger. •「だ」= plain sentence ending.
よもや is old-fashioned; in everyday speech people say まさか. It usually goes with a negative or a guess, as in よもや負けるまい, so using it alone like this is Rengoku's own style.
