In the first Dragon Quest (Famicom version), the hero defeats the dragon in the swamp cave and rescues Princess Lora. If he stays at an inn while still carrying her in his arms, the innkeeper says this the next morning when they set off. Once the princess is taken back to the castle, the line can no longer be seen.

The innkeeper hints at what may have happened between the two at night, and finding this in a game children also played surprised many players. It became one of the best-known lines of the series and was kept in the remakes. It may also be used as a joke to tease a friend who comes home in the morning after a date or a party.

•「ゆうべ」= last night (昨夜). •「おたのしみ」= お楽しみ, polite form of 楽しみ (fun, enjoyment); here it sounds teasing. •「〜でしたね」= polite past + ね, asking for agreement.

On the surface it is just a polite "You enjoyed yourselves last night", but it hints at a romantic night. Said to a coworker or a guest, it can sound like sexual teasing, so keep it as a joke between close friends.
