Then Unit-01 and Unit-13, with his mother Yui and father Gendo, are pierced too, and Mari comes for Shinji, left behind, in Unit-08.

Released in 2021, the film is the last of the four Rebuild of Evangelion films and brought to an end the story that began with the TV series in 1995. Some fans read it as a farewell not only to the Evas in the story but to the series itself. It may also be used, with a wink, when you finish a long project or move on from something you were deeply into.
