原作での使用シーン・文化的な背景
使用シーン:
『仮面ライダー電王』第1話(サブタイトルも「俺、参上!」)で、イマジンのモモタロスが、ひどく運の悪い青年・野上良太郎に取りついて叫ぶ。親指で自分を指してから両腕を大きく広げて名乗り、そのまま敵との戦いに飛びこんでいく。
In episode 1 of Kamen Rider Den-O, which is titled "Ore, Sanjō!", the Imagin Momotaros possesses Ryotaro Nogami, a very unlucky young man. Using Ryotaro's body, Momotaros points his thumb at himself, then throws his arms out wide and announces himself, and jumps straight into the fight.
文化的な背景:
モモタロスは、桃太郎のイメージから生まれた熱血なイマジン(声:関俊彦)。このポーズと名乗りは、「最初からクライマックスだぜ!」と並ぶ彼の代名詞になった。「参上」は古風でかたい言葉なので、かっこよさと少しのおかしさがある。待ち合わせ場所に勢いよく現れたときなどに、冗談で言うこともある。
Momotaros, voiced by Toshihiko Seki, is a hot-blooded Imagin whose look comes from the tale of Momotaro. This line and pose became his trademark, together with "I'm at my climax from the start!" 参上 is an old, stiff word, which makes it sound cool and a little funny. It may also be said half-jokingly when arriving somewhere with a big entrance.
英訳文法・学習のポイント
英訳文法のポイント
•「俺」は男性が使うくだけた一人称。•「参上」は「目上の人のところへ行く」という古風な言葉。•「する」を省いて、短く言い切っている。
•「俺」= I (rough, masculine). •「参上」= coming to see someone (an old, formal word). •No verb such as する: the noun alone makes a short, punchy announcement.
英訳の注意ポイント
「参上」は本来、目上の人のもとへ行くというへりくだった言葉で、ふだんの会話ではまず使わない。ここではヒーローの派手な登場の言葉になっている。日常では「来たよ」「着きました」と言う。
参上 was originally a humble word for visiting a superior, so it sounds strange in normal talk. Here it is a dramatic hero's entrance. In everyday speech, say 来たよ or 着きました.
