In Tensai Bakabon, Rerere no Ojisan, a man who is always sweeping the road with a bamboo broom, calls this out to people passing by. It is his catchphrase, repeated as a running gag whenever someone, such as Bakabon's family, walks past him.

The first half is an ordinary greeting, and the second half is a meaningless sound gag. The order and spelling vary between sources, as in 「レレレのレー、おでかけですか?」. People may also imitate it as a joke when they see a neighbor going out.

•「おでかけ」= お + 出かける (to go out), a polite noun. •「〜ですか?」= polite question. •「レレレのレ〜」= a nonsense sound with no meaning.
