Original Scene & Cultural Context

Scene in the Original Work:

In Fist of the North Star, Souther, the Holy Emperor, fights Kenshiro for the last time at his Holy Cross Mausoleum. Kenshiro has seen through the secret of his body, and Souther is losing. Still, he gets up shouting this line, then leaps from a handstand for a final attack, but is fatally wounded by Kenshiro.

Cultural Context:

In the original it continues: 「ひ… (An emperor does not run away!). The three short verbs show Souther's proud way of life, and the phrase is often quoted alone. It may also be used, half-jokingly, to show that you won't give up.
