Original Scene & Cultural Context

Scene in the Original Work:

In the childhood part of Dragon Quest V, a mysterious young man in the village of Santa Rosa asks the boy hero to show him the Gold Orb, and then says this. Much later, the adult hero travels back to the past through a painting in the Fairy Castle, and it turns out that the young man was the hero himself, who came to secretly swap the orb.

Cultural Context:

The hero of DQ5 is a silent protagonist, so these gentle words from his future self are rare. The boy's father Papas dies not long after, and players who later learn who the young man was feel the weight of the line. It may also be quoted when asking a child to be kind to their parents.
