Original Scene & Cultural Context
Scene in the Original Work:
In Ninja Slayer, set in the dark future city of Neo-Saitama, an ordinary citizen suddenly sees a ninja in front of him and screams this. In this world ninja are said not to exist, so the shock is too much: people may faint or even lose control of themselves. The story calls this NRS, Ninja Reality Shock.
日本語で読む
『ニンジャスレイヤー』で、未来都市ネオサイタマの一般市民が、突然目の前に現れたニンジャを見て叫ぶ悲鳴。この世界ではニンジャは存在しないものとされ、見た人は強いショックで失禁や気絶をしてしまうこともある。これはNRS(ニンジャ・リアリティ・ショック)と呼ばれている。
Cultural Context:
The odd, katakana-heavy Japanese of Ninja Slayer, called 忍殺語, became a big internet meme. Fans often change the word 「ニンジャ」 to something else, and call a big shock "○○ Reality Shock". It may also be said jokingly when you are shocked by something you never expected to see.

Grammar & Learning Points
Grammar Point
•「アイエエエ」= a weak, frightened scream. •「ニンジャ!?」= a ninja!? (just the noun, with no verb). •「ナンデ」= なんで (why), written in katakana for effect.
日本語で読む
•「アイエエエ」はなさけない悲鳴。•「ニンジャ!?」は名詞だけの驚きの言い方。•「ナンデ」は「なんで」(どうして)をわざとカタカナで書いたもの。
Trap for English Speakers
Correct Japanese would be 「なんでニンジャがいるの?」. The odd katakana and broken order are part of the Ninja Slayer style, so do not copy them in serious writing.
日本語で読む
ふつうは「なんでニンジャがいるの?」と言う。カタカナの多用や言葉の省略は『ニンジャスレイヤー』らしい文体なので、まじめな文章ではまねしないこと。
