In Demon Slayer, at the Hashira trial, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the head of the Demon Slayer Corps, tells the Hashira that he approves of Tanjiro Kamado traveling with his demon sister Nezuko. The Snake Hashira, Obanai Iguro, with his white snake Kaburamaru around his neck, objects with this line and adds, "I hate demons to begin with." Like the other Hashira, he refuses to accept the siblings.

Repeating the same words in a sticky, nagging way is part of Iguro's character, and fans sometimes call him "nechi-nechi" (naggy). The line continues, "I hate demons to begin with." Although he is harsh here, by the end of the story he changes enough to tell Tanjiro, "Thank you." It may also be quoted, half-jokingly, when doubting an offer that sounds too good to be true.
