Scene in the Original Work:
Taki, a high school boy in Tokyo, and Mitsuha, a high school girl in the mountain town of Itomori, keep dreaming that they are living as someone else. Mitsuha's friends tell her she acted strangely the day before, and she finds "Who are you?" written in her notebook. Taki finds diary notes on his phone that he doesn't remember writing. In separate places, each thinks, "In my dreams, that boy and I... / that girl and I..." and they say this line at the same moment.

Cultural Context:
Your Name. (2016), directed by Makoto Shinkai, became a huge hit, and this is the moment the body-swap mystery becomes clear. In a 2016 "movie buzzword" survey of Filmarks users, it tied for 2nd place with the song title 前前前世. That year, people also posted parodies online in which other pairs say "Could it be... we're switching!?" Some transcriptions write Mitsuha's half in her Gifu dialect as 入れ替わっとる. It may also be used as a joke when two people's roles or belongings get mixed up.
