Original Scene & Cultural Context
Scene in the Original Work:
Tanjiro fights the drum demon Kyogai in the Drum House. His wounds from the last battle have not healed, and as the demon's drum spins the rooms and sends claw-like slashes at him, he nearly loses heart. After thinking "I'm the eldest son, so I could endure it...", he cheers himself on with this line and keeps fighting.
Cultural Context:
Here Tanjiro cheers himself on by name. ("And today!! And from now on!! Even with broken bones!! I will never give up!!"). Together with the eldest-son line, it is loved as an inner voice that is serious, a little funny and moving. It may also be used to cheer yourself on before a hard task, with your own name in it.

Grammar & Learning Points
Grammar Point
•「頑張れ」= imperative of 頑張る (do your best, hang in there). • Calling yourself by name to cheer yourself on. •「よくやってきた」= have done well up to now (〜てきた = continuing from the past). •「できる奴」= a capable person (奴 is casual).
Trap for English Speakers
奴 (やつ) is casual and can sound rude about other people; about yourself, as here, it is fine. Also, 頑張れ to a superior sounds like an order; 頑張ってください is safer.
