Early in the film, when Lord Yupa visits the valley, the blind old Obaba recites this old legend to him, and he laughs it off. At the climax, a girl describes Nausicaa walking on the golden feelers of the Ohmu: "She's wearing a deep blue foreign dress, as if walking in a golden meadow." Obaba recites the legend again and says, "The old legend was true."

Nausicaa's dress was red, but it was dyed blue by the blood of a baby Ohmu, so she becomes the figure of the legend without meaning to. The legend continues, "Restoring the lost bond with the earth, at last leading the people to the pure blue land." Its old-fashioned grammar gives it the weight of a myth. It may also be recited as a joke when someone in blue walks across a yellow floor or carpet.

•「その者」= that person (old, formal style). •「まといて」= old written form of まとって, "wearing". •「降りたつべし」= "shall descend"; べし is a classical ending for what must or will happen.

This is classical Japanese, not modern speech. Here 金色 is read こんじき, not きんいろ, which gives it a sacred, temple-like sound.
