Original Scene & Cultural Context

Scene in the Original Work:

All Might, the No. 1 hero called the Symbol of Peace, says this catchphrase when he rushes to a disaster or a villain attack. With his usual big smile, he calms the people he saves, often in the form 「もう大丈夫!なぜって?私が来た!」. When villains attack the U.A. training facility USJ and his students are in danger, he arrives saying it without a smile.

「平和の象徴」と呼ばれるNo.1ヒーロー・オールマイトが、災害やヴィランの襲撃の現場に駆けつけたときの決めゼリフ。「もう大丈夫!なぜって?私が来た!」と、いつもの笑顔で助ける人々を安心させる。雄英高校の訓練施設USJがヴィランに襲われ、生徒たちが危機に陥った場面では、笑顔を消してこの言葉とともに現れる。

Cultural Context:

In just a few words, the line says "a hero is here, so you are safe now", and it stands for the whole series. All Might tries to keep smiling at all times so people feel safe. For Izuku Midoriya, who grew up watching videos of All Might's rescues, these words are where his dream began. It may also be used as a joke when you come to help a friend in trouble, or when you arrive late to a party.

「ヒーローが来たからもう安心だ」とたった一言で伝える、作品を象徴するセリフ。オールマイトは、人々を安心させるため、どんなときも笑顔でいようとする。幼い頃から彼の救助の動画を見て育った緑谷出久にとっては、憧れの原点となる言葉でもある。困っている友だちを助けに来たときや、遅れて飲み会に着いたときなどに、冗談で使うこともある。

Grammar & Learning Points

Grammar Point

•「私」= I (polite, neutral). •「来た」= past of 来る (to come); here "have arrived". •「が」= marks 私 as the one who came, stressing "it is I who came".
日本語で読む
•「私」は丁寧で中立的な一人称。•「来た」は「来る」の過去形で、ここでは「到着した」という意味。•「が」は来たのが誰かを示し、「ほかでもない私が来た」という強調になる。

Trap for English Speakers

来た is past tense, but here it means "I have arrived and I am here now", close to English "I'm here". Also, 私が (not 私は) answers "who came?", so it stresses that the speaker himself is the one who came.
日本語で読む
「来た」は過去形だが、ここでは「今ここに着いた」という完了の意味で、英語の "I'm here" に近い。また「私は」ではなく「私が」なのは、「来たのはこの私だ」と強調するため。
