Scene in the Original Work:
The final episode. Yamato is on its way back from Iscandar, and Earth is just ahead. Captain Okita, close to death from illness, asks Dr. Sado to leave him alone in his cabin and thanks him. Alone, he takes out a photo of his family and weeps for the first time, looks at Earth, murmurs this line, and dies. Sado comes back, finds him, and silently salutes.

Cultural Context:
Okita dying just before reaching home, after finishing his mission, is one of the most famous farewell scenes in Japanese anime, remembered together with Goro Naya's voice. The line is written in slightly different ways, such as 「地球か…何もかも、みな懐かしい」. It may also be said half-jokingly when visiting your hometown or old school after a long time.
